A BRIDGE which leads to Caernarfon Castle will close to pedestrians for one day this week.

Pont yr Aber, also known as the Aber/Caernarfon Swing Bridge, will shut to pedestrians tomorrow (June 11), the council has confirmed.

Cynor Gwynedd said this was for "essential maintenance work to be completed".

The footbridge crosses over the Afon Seiont to the Watergate entrance near Caernarfon Castle and was built in 1970.

A council spokesperson said: "The bridge will be closed to pedestrians for a period on Thursday, 11 June 2026, to allow essential maintenance work to be completed.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"We will provide an update as soon as the bridge reopens."
