TRIBUTES have been paid to a “dedicated and valued” Anglesey councillor who died suddenly.
Councillor Ken Taylor served the Bro’r Llynnoedd ward. He was elected to Anglesey County Council in May 2022. He lived in Valley but was originally from Elim, Llanddeusant.
During his time in office, he played a central role in the council’s work, particularly in planning and regulatory matters.
He showed “great diligence and careful judgement” while carrying out his responsibilities as chair of both the Planning and Orders Committee and the Licensing Committee.
A committed public servant, Cllr Taylor was actively involved in council business and was re-elected earlier this month as chair of both the Planning and Orders Committee and the Licensing Committee.
Councillor Gary Pritchard, Anglesey council leader, said: “It is with great shock and sadness that we have learned of Ken’s sudden passing. Ken was a hardworking and conscientious member of the Plaid Cymru Group and county council. He carried out his duties with dedication, integrity and humour.
“He was immensely proud to serve his local community in Bro’r Llynnoedd and was deeply committed to representing their interests.
“As chair of the Planning and Orders Committee, he played an important role in the decision-making that shaped communities across Anglesey. He approached this work with fairness, diligence and a strong sense of responsibility.
“On behalf of the county council, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and all who knew him.”
Councillor Taylor was a school governor at Ysgol Gynradd Bodedern and Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern.
He also attended community council meetings in Valley, Llanfair-yn-Neubwll and Bodedern.
Paying tribute, Cllr Gwilym O Jones, fellow Bro’r Llynnoedd member, said: “Ken was a colleague and a friend. He was also a committed representative for our local communities. He cared deeply about the area and the people he served, and he approached his role with dedication and humility.
“It was a privilege to work alongside him. He will be greatly missed, both personally and professionally, and my thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
Dylan J Williams, Anglesey chief executive, said: “Ken was a respected and committed member of the council who contributed significantly to its work. He demonstrated a strong sense of duty and public service throughout his time as a councillor.
“His decisive and passionate approach was greatly valued by us as officers, as well as by his fellow members.
“He will be missed.”
