A PENSIONER from Gwynedd has admitted driving dangerously.

Geoffrey Houghton, 68, of Fronwynion Street, Trawsfynydd, pleaded guilty to the charge at Caernarfon Crown Court this morning (March 16).

The charge refers to an incident on High Street and Heol y Parc in Porthmadog, when Houghton drove a BMW vehicle dangerously on those roads.

Houghton will be sentenced at the same court on Monday, April 13, and was granted bail until then.

Amy Edwards, representing Houghton, said he has “been out of trouble for 16 years” and has “rather severe health difficulties at the moment”.

Judge Nicola Jones, presiding over today’s hearing, ordered the probation service to compile a pre-sentence report on Houghton’s behalf.

“I’m keeping all options open,” Judge Jones told Houghton.

“This, frankly, is something which escalated above and beyond wherever it started.

“You must cooperate with the probation service in the preparation of a pre-sentence report.”
