THE title conundrum in the Ardal North West League has finally been unravelled with Flint Mountain needing just one more win to seal the deal.

Last Wednesday’s 5-1 thrashing of title-rivals Llay Welfare at The Ring proved Mountain meant business and Saturday’s results further boosted their chances of securing a Cymru North place this weekend.

Mountain were 3-1 winners at home to Pwllheli with Mike Hayes, Rob Hughes and Joe Holt the goalscorers. Gethin Trenholme replied for Pwllheli, who also had substitute Jamie Banks sent off.

Third-placed Llay must win one of their remaining three games to secure runners-up spot and the chance to complete for a Cymru North place in an end of season play-off against the side who finish second in the North East League.

Substitute Scott Swords’ goal came too late for Llay, who were beaten 2-1 at St Asaph City, who went two up early on through Jake Walker and Dan Clarke.

Brickfield Rangers were held to a goal-less draw at home by Llangefni Town while Saltney Town were relegated after a 1-0 defeat to Nantlle Vale.

Y Felinheli beat Llannefydd 2-0 while fourth-placed Holyhead Hotspur completed their season with a 3-1 defeat at Llanrwst United yesterday.

Llanuwchllyn and Bow Street are fighting for the right to finish second behind champions Penrhyncoch in the North East League.

Meilir Williams and Warren Aykroyd-Duckett were Llanuwchllyn’s scorers in a 2-0 win at Llangollen Town while Bow Street, who are three points behind their rivals but have a game in hand, beat Cefn Albion 2-0 thanks to Dafydd Carruthers’ double.

Penrhyncoch lost 1-0 at Builth Wells, Llansantffraid beat Llandrindod Wells 2-0 while Llanfair United edged out Radnor Valley 3-2.

In the Reserves North Cup, Matthew Cooks, Jack Jones and Rhys Edwards scored for Chirk AAA in a 3-0 win at Airbus.

In the Reserves North League, The New Saints moved level on points with leaders Connah’s Quay Nomads after a 4-1 victory over Porthmadog.

In the Reserves Tier 3 League, Jack Honey, Paige Wilding, Alex Leaney and Dan Burnett earned Brickfield Rangers a 4-1 win at Hawarden Rangers for whom James Redfern replied.
