The Moss Rose Pub Kearsley boarded up in sudden closure

It was posted on the pub's Facebook  page The Moss Rose Pub in Kearsley  on March 27 that the pub was closing for a period of time but did not state how long or why they were closing.

Regulars have now noticed that the pub doors and windows have been boarded up with a sign saying it is 'secured by VPS'.

An announcement on the Facebook page said: "Please note due to unforeseen circumstances the Moss Rose will be temporarily closed from this evening.

"Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."

The pub's outdoor seating is still uncovered, but the door and windows are now boarded up.

The pub's Facebook page was hugely active but nothing has been posted since the closure announcement.

The pub originally closed in 2015 following competition from others, the pub owners said at the time.

But the pub on Manchester Road in Kearsley reopened just weeks later after a new tenant was found by Punch and Taverns.

A spokesman for Punch and Taverns said at the time: "It will re-open as a pub and will still be called The Moss Rose.

The pub was reopened by the end of February of that year.

Just four days before the announcement to close, the Facebook page detailed Easter Bank Holiday events such as an open mic night and a band performance.
