AN ONLINE fundraiser page has been created aiming to enable a family to hire a private investigation team to look for a woman who went missing from Holyhead in 2021.

Catrin Maguire was last seen on Thomas Street on November 15, 2021, and was aged 22 at the time.

Despite several multi-agency searches, she has never been found.

North Wales Police is still treating Catrin as a missing person, and has expressed its empathy with her family, who have said they have had “no closure”.

A family friend has now set up a GoFundMe page looking to gather £25,000 in donations to help pay for a private investigation team.

It has so far raised more than £2,000 - www.gofundme.com/f/find-catrin-alaw-maguire.

The statement on the page reads: “I’m fundraising on behalf of Wendy and Gerry Maguire, whose precious daughter, Catrin, and amazing sister of Ciaran went missing on November 15, 2021 from Holyhead.

“The money raised will be used to hire a private investigation team to look for Catrin, investigate new details that have come to light and to scrutinise all previous information.

“The goal will be used to cover additional investigative expenses and legal support if needed. An official complaint to North Wales Police was upheld, with failings identified in relation to Catrin’s case.

“Your support can make a significant difference in helping the Maguire family find answers and potentially bring closure to this challenging situation.

“Please consider contributing to the campaign to support their efforts in hiring a private investigator and bringing attention to Catrin’s case.

“Any money left over will be donated to Môn-SAR, Holyhead RNLI, and Missing People UK.”

Catrin’s disappearance previously featured on an episode of the Channel Five programme, Vanished: the Hunt for Britain’s Missing People.

She was last seen walking along Thomas Street at 12.20pm on November 15, 2021, towards Porthyfelin Road/South Stack Road.

Police had described Catrin as being approximately 5ft 5in in height, and of slim build.

Chief Superintendent Sian Beck, of North Wales Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with Catrin’s family.

“We understand their need to find out what has happened, and we will continue to review any further information we receive.

“We would appeal to anyone with information that hasn’t already been shared with us to contact us, quoting reference 40695.”
