A CINEMA in Holyhead sustained damage after a fire took place at the premises earlier today (March 14).

The fire service was called to the Empire Cinema, at 39 Stanley Street, at around 12.30pm after a fire broke out in its kitchen.

The fire was contained to the kitchen area, and was dealt with by fire services.

The cinema said that the building suffered damage, which will require work before it can reopen to the public.

Nobody was injured, and the business extended their gratitude to North Wales Fire & Rescue Service.

An Empire Cinema spokesperson said: "At 12.30 today North Wales Fire and Rescue were called to the Empire Complex.

"The fire was quickly isolated and dealt with.

"There is damage and works will need to be undertaken before we can reopen to the public.

"Everybody is safe, nobody was hurt thankfully.

"We would like to go on record to thank North Wales Fire and Rescue and also our team of employees who were on-site for their swift and professional actions.

"Updates will be provided when available."
