DRAG star The Vivienne was unable to perform at this afternoon's performance of The Wizard of Oz.

However, the star, who was brought up in North Wales, is well enough for this evening's show.

The afternoon show went ahead at Llandudno's Venue Cymru with another performer in the role of the Wicked Witch of the West.

The Vivienne posted a video on social media to apologise to fans.

But later posted that they would be able to do the 7.30pm performance at Venue Cymru.

The Vivienne said: "Good news. My throat has eased off a lot, I believe it’s fatigue rather than illness which is good, drank a tonne of water and meds!

"Sorry again for not making it on stage this afternoon, but will be on tonight! X"

The run at Venue Cymru is a homecoming as James Lee Williams, the alter ego of The Vivienne, was brought up in Colwyn Bay and attended Rydal Penrhos school.

Family, friends and former teachers are coming to the performance this evening.

Speaking last week, The Vivienne said: "My drama teachers are actually coming to see me, it will be the first thing they have seen me in since school. Denis Lavin and two other teachers will be coming, which is nice.

"It was Mr Lavin egged me on to play a woman in my final GCSE show, for which I got an A."

The Vivienne plays The Wicked Witch of the West in the Michael Harrison and the Really Useful Group musical The Wizard of Oz.

The new musical, based on the iconic story by L. Frank Baum, is touring the UK and Ireland throughout 2024, following a celebrated run at the world-famous London Palladium.
