DRONE units continue to search for a "very experienced walker" who went missing in Eryri in January. 

David Brookfield, known to friends and family as Dave, was last seen on Tuesday, January 9.

He texted his wife Lesley from the top of Carnedd Llewelyn. No further contact was received.

The family have been left heartbroken as they mark six weeks without Dave who is a grandad and great-grandad.

North Wales Police have confirmed that searches continue in the area for Dave and the drone unit is involved.

Daughter-in-law Klare Brookfield said: "We just miss him so much. Our family are searching for him. Police are still searching with drones and are currently going through all the images.

"We really want to appeal to walkers and members of the public to keep a look out for any personal belongings or if anyone saw or spoke to him that day."

Dave, a former transport and warehouse manager, is married to Lesley. He is described as a very experienced walker and organised his own walking group in work.

Klare added: "He is recently retired and he is looking forward to enjoying his retirement and going on adventures in his campervan."

In a statement, Dave's family said: "We are all heartbroken. He went missing six weeks ago, it was his first proper week of his retirement after Christmas.

"He was an experienced walker and he ran a walking group in work although he was alone at this time.

"He had a Garmin watch on so we know first part of his walk. His plan was to do Carnedd Llewelyn and Carnedd Dafydd. 

"He text his wife at the top of Carnedd Llewelyn to say he had done it and that was the last contact from him. He had paused his watch as we have no other data.

"Police are still searching with drones and are currently going through all the images.

"We Just really want to appeal to the public. Keep a look out for any personal belongings or to anyone that saw or spoke to him that day, please get in touch."

Multi-agency searches have taken place following Dave's disappearance. Walkers and members of the public have been asked to look out for a large backpack.
