NORTH Wales housing association ClwydAlyn has announced the completion of 52 new energy efficient homes at Hen Ysgol y Bont in Llangefni.

Now known as Maes yr Ysgol and Bridge Street, residents were introduced to their brand-new homes on Monday, 2 October.

The completion of the development is a significant milestone in ClwydAlyn’s commitment to providing quality and affordable housing for residents in North Wales.

Member of Parliament Virginia Crosbie, was invited to see the benefits firsthand, enjoying a tour before the final keys were handed over to the excited residents.

MP Virginia Crosbie expressed her support for the project, stating: ‘‘I am pleased to witness this collaboration between ClwydAlyn, Anglesey County Council and the Welsh Government in delivering these essential affordable homes.

“This problem not only addresses the housing challenges but underlines the importance of partnerships in achieving positive outcomes.’’

Anglesey Council’s deputy leader and children, youth and housing service portfolio holder, said: “We are delighted that this housing development in Llangefni has been successfully completed.

“It underlines our continued commitment to provide local tenants and families with quality homes in their communities which was a key part of Plaid Cymru's manifesto.

“Our Housing Strategy 2022-2027 continues to play an integral role as we work collaboratively with key partners, to meet the needs of our local residents now and for the future.”

Built using greener technologies and innovative designs, these new homes are super energy efficient and comprise of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, varying from bungalows, apartments, and semi-detached houses. 

All homes are built as lifetime homes and are designed so that they are easily adaptable to the changing needs of the residents, helping them to live independently for longer.

By building energy efficient homes ClwydAlyn aims to tackle fuel poverty and improve the health and wellbeing of their residents.

The development was built by Williams Homes on behalf of ClwydAlyn and in partnership with Anglesey County Council and the Welsh Government, with partial funding through the Innovative Housing Programme.
