THE life-saving volunteers of Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation were called to three emergencies in one day.

On Saturday, September 16 the team supported North Wales Police's search for a missing person believed to be in the Trefriw area.

A statement from Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue said: "Working alongside two search and Rescue Dog Association SARDA Wales handlers and their dogs, the team searched the woods and hillside around the village until the missing person contacted their family."

The team were then called to Tryfan to assist with a dog and its owners; the German Shepherd had become "unhappy" on steep terrain while descending the South Ridge.

The statement said: "A small party walked up to them [the people] and provided warm clothing and torches."

The 'stuck' dog was assisted and the trio were brought to safer ground.

The final emergency saw the team called out to Rhiwiau Caws and the cliffs around the head of Cwm Idwal.

The team said: "After topping out on Idwal Slabs, two climbers became stuck in bad weather and were unable to navigate off in the dark. Those not already deployed accessed the top of the crag and provided torches to the stuck pair before leading them to the climbers descent.

"They were lowered on a technical rope rescue system to safe ground before being walked back to Ogwen Cottage."
