"The cause of the fire was accidental, involving a tumble dryer housed in the outbuilding."

In a statement on social media, the Gaerwen Arms said there was a "long road ahead" after the pub had sustained "catastrophic damage".

Thankfully, due to the pub being closed, nobody was inside and nobody was hurt.

The Gaerwen Arms social post read: "Yesterday afternoon, the most devastating fire ripped through the Gaerwen Arms- at speeds that couldn't be controlled, causing catastrophic damage to our kitchen and restaurant.

"We stood by and watched as the incredible North Wales Fire & Rescue Service North Wales Fire and Rescue Service / Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru team fought to save our livelihood and we can never thank them enough for what they did and continue to do every day- risking their own lives for the sake of others.

"We are beyond thankful that the Gaerwen was closed yesterday- there were no staff inside and nobody was hurt. It doesn't bare thinking about how differently things could have been.

"We've got a long road ahead, but you all know how much we love a challenge.

"The amount of support Andy, Oli and everyone at the GA have already received has been overwhelming- we can never thank you enough. It's incredible how communities come together in times like this."
