A FISH and chips takeaway in Bangor has been named a finalist in one of the categories of this year’s Food Awards Wales.
Valla’s Fish and Chip Shop, a family-run takeaway on High Street, has made the 10-strong list of finalists for the best Fish ‘N Chips establishment.
The only nominee in Wales, the chippy has been run by the Valla family for 80 years, and is currently run by the fourth and fifth generations of the family.

The chippy was named the second best in North Wales last year, but this is its first Food Awards Wales nomination.
The event is in its sixth year, and showcases the best places for food across the country.
Valla’s has a TripAdvisor rating of 4 after 89 reviews, with the most recent one (six days ago) reading: “Food is always top quality here. Staff always full of banter and welcoming. Been going for years and will continue to do so.”
