A CAERNARFON bike shop has won three awards at a ceremony recognising the best in apprenticeships, employment and skills.

Beics Antur, at Porth yr Aur, won three prizes at Cambrian Training’s Apprenticeship, Employment & Skills Awards 2023, which were held this week at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod.

The annual awards are a celebration of employers and learners from across Wales, who have excelled in the work-based apprenticeship programmes delivered by Cambrian Training Company.

Beics Antur comes under the Antur Waunfawr umbrella, a social enterprise that provides employment, training, and wellbeing opportunities to adults with learning difficulties.

The shop has also been developed into a health and wellbeing centre, with a bike hire and repair shop, a room available to hire for health and wellbeing activities, and a sensory room, in a project worth £1million.

They offer a large selection of adult and children’s bikes for sale and hire, and have a fleet of adaptive bikes for hire, suitable for individuals of all abilities.

And this year the bike shop and its employees swept to victory in three categories at the Apprenticeship, Employment & Skills Awards 2023.

Jack Williams, a bike mechanic at Beics Antur was recognised in the Welsh Apprentice Ambassador of the Year category.

This category showcased the dedication, commitment, hard work and passion of candidates who have undertaken any programmes with Cambrian Training through the medium of Welsh.

Jack was also successful in claiming the Foundation Apprentice of the Year award after completing a Level 2 Foundation Apprenticeship.

And to top the evening off the bike shop’s parent company Antur Waunfawr was victorious in the Medium Employer of the Year award.
