A STAND at the ground of an Anglesey football club was vandalised earlier this week, in an incident the club have labelled an “absolute disgrace”.

Benches at CPD Llanerch-y-medd FC’s Tan Parc ground were thrown about on Monday night (March 6), the second incident in a matter of weeks.

Loose chippings were also thrown onto the pitch, which pose a hazard to players and staff, with the club saying “some lowlife” was responsible.

A club spokesperson said via social media: “Having seen CPD Aberffraw FC’s recent post about vandalism at Cae Croes, I really felt for them and thought thank god it never happens at Tan Parc.

“Until a call from the chairman today to say that someone has vandalised the stand at Tan Parc last night, absolutely disgrace!

“With the amount of work the volunteers do at Tan Parc, for some lowlife to wantonly vandalise for ‘fun’ is just not on.”

Club Secretary John Jukes told the Chronicle: “This is not the first time it’s happened, it happened a couple of weeks ago to a lesser extent – I put them back thinking it was a one off.

“Whoever they are, they keep coming back and abusing the place - on top of all you can see in the photograph they have been throwing loose chippings onto the pitch as well so we’ve had to gather those up.

“It's just petty vandalism – over the years we’ve known people have congregated there, as long as they don’t wreck the place.

“It’s a meeting place, people play football on the other pitch, and we’ve got no objections to that. But this is just somebody taking the mickey.”

The club have reported the incident to police, and have since been visited by officers.

North Wales Police were approached for a comment on the incident.
