A WATCH manager for North Wales Fire and Rescue service has retired after 30 years. 

Paul ‘JP’ Morris was watch manager at Holyhead Fire Station. His last day was on Tuesday, January 31.

JP joined the fire service as an on-call firefighter at Menai Bridge in 1992 before securing a full-time position in 1994. He has spent time on station in Caernarfon, Bangor and Holyhead and has also worked within the training department.

Dave Hughes, head of Fire Safety and West area, said: “JP worked with staff across the region, serving as a great role model for so many new firefighters. He has made a real difference to the safety of his community.

"We all wish him the best for a long and happy retirement."

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is looking to recruit on-call firefighters.
