THE MAJOR revamp of a prominent hotel in Anglesey overlooking the Menai Strait has continued, with staff having "officially left the building... for now".

The Victoria Hotel, Menai Bridge, temporarily closed to guests on Monday, October 17, until the multi-million pound improvement project is completed next spring.

The hotel will reopen as part of the Chef & Brewer Collection, and will remain as a hotel and community pub, with a new restaurant and remodelled garden making the most of the stunning views over the Menai Strait.

A post on the hotel's Facebook today (October 31) read: "Our team has officially left the building... for now!

"We've spent the past two weeks clearing out our lovely pub; furniture and decor has been sold to lovely locals, with proceeds going to Macmillan, and our pillows and duvets have been donated to North Wales charities for the homeless.

"Our keys have now been handed over to our contractors to work their magic!

"We can't wait to see a beautiful fresh garden, done so with the help of the brilliant Brian who has worked with us for decades, extra hotel rooms, and a cosy restaurant for guests and locals to enjoy.

"Who else is excited? We'll be keeping you up to date with our progress on our social media platforms, so make sure you're following us if you aren't already."

A large recruitment drive will start at the hotel in the new year, with the investment delivering about 50 new jobs to the area ahead of its opening in the spring.

Every member of staff who worked with the previous owners has been retained.
