A MAN from Anglesey has received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to assault.

Geraint Owen, 54, of Pantycelyn, Beaumaris, was accused of assaulting Gordon Brown by beating him in Llangoed on May 10.

He pleaded guilty on September 10.

On September 27 at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court, Owen was sentenced to six weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

The sentence was suspended due to Owen currently seeking help for alcohol issues.

Owen is to pay £100 in compensation, £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a £128 victim surcharge.

This totalled £313, to be paid as a full lump sum within 28 days.

An application was made for deductions from Owen’s benefits.
