BANGOR alumnus and TV presenter Hamza Yassin made his Strictly Come Dancing debut on the weekend as the 20th series got underway.

Hamza, who studied Zoology with Conservation at Bangor University and received an Honorary Master of Science degree from the University over the summer, impressed judges in his first performance with professional partner Jowita Przystał.

Judge Anton Du Beke praised Hamza’s showing, adding “We’ve got ourselves a ballroom dancer in the house.”

Hamza is one of the presenters of BBC’s Animal Park, a guest presenter on BBC’s Countryfile and known to younger viewers as Ranger Hamza, presenting CBeebies live-action show Let’s Go For A Walk and his new series Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest.
