WALES-based cancer charity, Tenovus Cancer Care, is calling for new members to join its Bangor “Sing with Us” choir as it restarts on September 8.

“Sing with Us” is a network of choirs across Wales for people from all walks of life whose lives have been affected by cancer – not just those who have had a diagnosis.

New members are welcome throughout the year to join the free choir sessions and no auditions are required to become a member. Lyric sheets are provided.

Sessions are fun and a chance to meet new friends with similar experiences while supporting Tenovus Cancer Care in its fundraising activities.

Carole and Sue met at sessions and have been best of friends since.

Sue said: “I joined the Llandudno choir after my husband passed away from cancer and met Carole at a session not long after that.

“We’ve become great friends, going on cruises together and having a right laugh.

“To be honest, I felt a little lost when I joined the choir but singing as a group and meeting Carole gave me a tremendous lift during one of the most challenging periods of my life.

“You could say we’re all joined at the hip now!”

Sing with Us manager, Paul Rothwell, said: “Our choirs are fun, friendly and offer great support.

“Research has shown singing is good for you and a wonderful way to lift your spirits, reduce anxiety and be part of something special.

“You don’t need experience, we won’t make you audition or sing solo either, as we believe every voice counts.

“COVID-19 stopped us from singing together for such a long time and it’s great to finally have choirs back in our communities.

“Our relaunch event on September 8 is a chance for us to re-engage with the wonderful people of Bangor and we’d love you to come along and be a part of it.”
