A MAN from Holyhead has been issued with a restraining order after he was found guilty of committing arson at a property in the town.

Christopher Hughes, 50, of Kingsland Road, was accused of burning a ribbon and a door belonging to Kayleigh Jones on July 16, 2021.

A guilty verdict was reached on June 24, after he had pleaded not guilty on February 28.

At Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on July 11, Mr Hughes was ordered not to contact Jones by any means whatsoever, not to go within 15m of Lush Beauty Salon, and not to enter Tara Street, until July 10, 2024.

He must also abstain from consuming alcohol for 80 days, and undertake a maximum of 25 days’ rehabilitation activity.

Mr Hughes is also to pay £150 in compensation, £720 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a £95 victim surcharge.

This totalled £965, which he is to pay as a full lump sum within 28 days.

An application was also made by the court for deductions from Mr Hughes’ benefits.
