MEMBERS of Flint and District Lions Club attended Flint High School to present a portable defibrillator to the North Wales Walking Football League.

The presentation was made by Lions Club members Bryn Jones and Wyn Jones, and accepted by Steve Bailey, John Oliver and Pete Hazeldine, members of the North Wales league committee.

Steve Bailey had approached the Lions Club in Flint asking if they would help sponsor a defibrillator for the North Wales league, which consists of teams of players aged above 50 who play Walking Football.

There are more than 15 teams in North Wales that take part in the league, including Connah's Quay, Mold, St Asaph PBStrollers from Llandudno, as well as one that travels from Amlwch.

Bryn Jones, from the Lions, said he was “surprised and impressed about the league, how it not only allowed people to continue to play football later in life, but how it created the opportunity for people meet up socialise and make new friends”, adding that the Lions were “happy to be a supporter of the league”.
