POLICE have reminded residents of the dangers of trespassing after a child was injured at a derelict building in Bangor.

The child climbed onto an unstable roof light at the former site of Ysgol Cae Top, Hill Street, and fell three metres to the ground.

North Wales Police (NWP) say the child did not sustain any serious injuries.

Anyone who witnesses trespassers at the derelict Ysgol Cae Top site is urged to contact NWP.

NWP Gwynedd North said: “Following a recent incident where a child was injured at a derelict building in Bangor, we are reminding people of the dangers of trespassing.

“The warning comes ahead of schools closing for the summer - and concerns surrounding children and young people trespassing at disused sites.

“Earlier this month, a trespasser climbed onto an unstable roof light of the former Ysgol Cae Top on Hill Street, Bangor and fell three metres to the ground.”

PC Michael Sambrook said: “Thankfully the child did not sustain any serious injuries, but it comes as a warning to others not to trespass – particularly at unsafe and dangerous locations such as this one.

“We will be speaking to local school children about the dangers of trespassing and educating children on the dangers - but we also need care-givers help to really get that message across - especially in the lead up to the school holidays.”
