A PUB and hotel based in Betws-y-Coed has reopened following a £500,000 investment by independent pub operators Punch Pubs & Co.

Management partner Heather Spooner has taken the helm at The Pont-y-Pair Inn, on Holyhead Road.

Heather first fell in love with Betws-y-Coed during a fleeting visit when working in the village many years ago.

Since then, she has been a regular visitor to the area and has always dreamed of making it her home one day.

On partnering with Punch to reopen the much-loved pub, Heather said: “It's a dream come true. I feel so lucky to be able to combine my love of this beautiful village with my passion for pubs by bringing back a 'proper' pub for all to enjoy."

The pub, nestled next to the Grade II listed Betws-y-Coed bridge, has had no expense spared in its transformation, ensuring its interiors are in keeping with the natural beauty of its exteriors and the stunning scenery that surrounds it.

The Pont-y-Pair now boasts a beautifully finished bar and restaurant area that reflects the pub's traditional charms and relaxed ambience – somewhere where all are welcome.

Those visiting the village for extended stays to explore nearby Snowdonia National Park now have the pick of 10 elegant ensuite bedrooms that offer the type of home-away-from-home comforts that are hard to resist.

Having grown up in and around pubs, Heather brings a wealth of experience to the pub, putting it in good stead for a busy summer ahead.

Following the pub's re-opening celebrations, Heather has plenty more planned with an exciting themed menu, quizzes and fun to mark the Queen's Jubilee, and a special gift for those visiting to celebrate Father's Day.

Heather added: "I cannot wait to welcome guests back into the Pont-y-Pair and for it to become an invaluable hub of the community."

Senior operations manager Sarah Edmunds said: "We are so proud to be reopening the Pont-y-Pair Inn and unveiling its beautiful new look.

“It's a magnificent country pub, in an equally magnificent setting, and this investment has given it the new lease of life it needed.

“Not only this, but our new management partner Heather is the perfect person to ensure its success."
