THE administrator of Orthios Eco Parks (Anglesey) Ltd and Orthios Power (Anglesey) Ltd, and their agent Hilco Real Estate Advisory, HAS welcomed the joint UK and Welsh Government announcement to deliver a new Freeport in Wales.

As part of the UK Government’s plans to support the regeneration of communities across the country, £26million has been pledged behind a proposed new Freeport for Wales.

Bidders are expected to show how they will create high-quality job opportunities, support the area’s economy and meet the Wales and UK Governments’ shared climate change commitments to reach net zero by 2050.

Craig Ridgley of Voscap was appointed as administrator to the companies.

In conjunction with their agent Hilco Real Estate Advisory, he is currently marketing the company’s shares and assets which predominately comprise real estate assets relating to the former trading site, including its attractive existing infrastructure, to deliver the best possible return for creditors.

The administrator and their agent have been in contact with Virginia Crosbie, MP for Ynys Môn as part of the ongoing marketing process.

Mr Ridgley said: “There has already been considerable interest in the real estate.

“But given the announcement of potential Freeport status and the site’s many strategic advantages and current infrastructure, we can only imagine that this recent announcement will further increase interest in the open bidding process to interested parties.”

Mrs Crosbie added: “I am delighted there has been interest in the site. The announcement there will be a Freeport in Wales is certainly increasing investment interest in Anglesey.

“However, my job is to work with everyone on the island and across north Wales to make the case for the Freeport to be here.

“That is a work in progress but the support of business is incredibly important.”
