PLACES IN Anglesey and Gwynedd have been named among the best spots for stargazing in the UK.

Llanddwyn Island in Anglesey and Portmeirion in Gwynedd made the top ten, as International Dark Sky Week continues with stargazers around the globe enjoy the peaceful, spiritual and annual experience that was initially designed to raise awareness of light pollution and encourage celebration of the beauty of the night sky.

With that in mind, PsychicWorld.com wanted to discover the UK’s best secret spots for stargazing, with each location given a ‘Stargazing Quality Score’ out of 100.

The score is based on factors such as artificial brightness and its Bortle Scale class, which is a nine-level numeric scale that measures the night sky's and stars' brightness (naked-eye and stellar limiting magnitude) of a particular location in order to gauge its light pollution.

Llanddwyn Island was named the fifth-best spot with a score of 93.17, while Portmeirion, famous for being the setting of the 1960s television show The Prisoner, came in seventh with a total of 91.09.
