AN EVENT is set to take place at Victoria Dock in Caernarfon, where boaters can meet the directors of an anti-fouling solutions firm to learn more about their sustainable products.

On April 23 and 24, Above The Brine - a boatyard and chandler - will welcome Scottish business Marine Growth Prevention Specialists (MGPS) by hosting the “Meet Ultraguard” event.

Elizabeth Kirkham, co-owner of Above the Brine, said: “This month, we have officially become North Wales’ Authorised Dealers of the Ultraguard Antifouling System - a next-generation ultrasonic, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional antifouling paint.

“To celebrate this, we are holding a ‘Meet Ultraguard’ event with the creators of the system, MGPS.

“Directors Gavin Fisher and Chris Ryan will be on hand to demonstrate how the system works, as well as answer any questions.”

As a thank you to everyone who attends, Above The Brine will be offering a special discount on the Master Series system specifically available at the event.

The system comes with a two-year, no quibble warranty and is packaged as a kit, including the control unit, two powerful transducers, and all the cables/adhesives required for installation.

Thanks to their vast experience in the commercial maritime industry, MGPS’s Ultraguard Antifouling System has fast become the go-to solution to high cost, high pollution antifouling.

Ultraguard Antifouling uses pulses of ultrasonic sound at specific frequencies to induce a resonance response, causing a light vibration on a boat’s hull.

By doing this, marine growth larvae are unable to attach, keeping the hull free of marine growth.

This reduces drag, which in turn results in lower fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs.

Designed, developed and manufactured in the UK, this series is of the highest quality and offered with technical, logistical support to ensure any solutions required are readily available.

Elizabeth said: “We are very excited to be holding our ‘Meet Ultraguard’ event as we are fully committed to introducing our customers to as many eco-friendly products as we can!

“As such, we feel this product, as well as its creators, offer a great alternative to legacy antifouling.”

Chris Ryan, technical director of MGPS, added: “We can’t wait to meet everyone at the event!

“I’m usually quoted as saying that Ultraguard is a product of evolution and not revolution. However, the Master Series really is a revolution in acoustic antifouling solutions!

“Competitors typically take low power leisure boat systems and try to sell them to the commercial marine industry, but we’ve done the exact opposite!

“Our background is commercial shipping, and we’ve put a lot of time into combining that power and antifouling capability into a small package.”

To attend the “Meet Ultraguard” event, drop by Above the Brine’s store in Caernarfon on 23 or 24 April to see how Ultraguard can help save on both fuel and maintenance fees.

Affordable parking is available within walking distance at the Shell Site Car Park.
