A GWYNEDD beach has been named the best in Great Britain in a new study.

Llandanwg Beach took top spot after research by HomeToGo, the marketplace with the world's largest selection of holiday lettings.

Rhos-on-Sea/Colwyn Bay Beach in Conwy also featured in the top 10, coming 10th.

Llandanwg Beach was given the highest index score of 27.2 (out of 30), which was based on aspects like median price per night, visitor ratings and water quality.

Of these three categories, Llandanwg Beach had a median nightly price of £126.75, a 4.1 visitor rating, and “excellent” water quality.

HomeToGo described it as: “A sheltered, scenic beach in prime position on the west coast of the Snowdonia National Park, with sand dunes, rock pools and Rhinog mountain views.”

Meanwhile, Rhos-on-Sea/Colwyn Bay Beach received a score of 24.2, a median nightly price of £129.27, a 3.5 visitor rating, and “excellent” water quality.

In total, half of the top 10 was made up of beaches in Wales.
