The jury in the trial of a man accused of swindling the 74-year-old victim of a crossbow murder and his disabled partner out of thousands of pounds, before the tragedy, has been discharged.
Judge Rhys Rowlands at Mold crown court in North Wales told jurors :”Nothing sinister has happened, nor has anyone fallen ill.”
Wyn Lewis, aged 50, of Fferam, Llanfair yn Neubwll, Anglesey, denied eleven counts of fraud and a charge of attempting to pervert justice.
Siwan Maclean, aged 52, of the same address, denied money-laundering.
The prosecution had said Gerald Corrigan and Marie Bailey, aged 67, were allegedly conned.
Mr Corrigan had been killed in April 2019 in Anglesey although the prosecution said the murder had “nothing whatsoever” to do with the trial.
Judge Rowlands said a re-trial was likely later this year.
