A MAN from Caernarfon has been fined more than £1,000 and banned from driving for 12 months after driving with an excessive proportion of a controlled drug in his bloodstream.
Matthew Ginsberg, aged 43, of New Street, Bethel, was driving on Caernarfon Road, Bangor on October 28, 2020, with 2.6 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC - the cannabinoid molecule in marijuana) per litre of blood.
Mr Ginsberg was found guilty of this offence at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on January 28.
He was fined £120, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34, and costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £930.
This amounted to a total of £1,084, of which Mr Ginsberg was ordered to pay £6 per week, commencing February 25.
He was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months.
