A dad died when his car collided with that of a diabetic driver who’d travelled four miles on the wrong side of a dual carriageway after a “hypoglycaemic event,” an inquest has heard.

Paul Jones, aged 40, a product analyst, of David Street, Penmaenmawr, died on the dark A55 at Talybont, Bangor, in February 2018, following a salsa dance class.

The other driver, retired John Williams, of Llanfair PG in Anglesey, was trapped in his car with a head injury.

The inquest at Caernarfon heard Mr Williams had intended to go to Tesco at Bangor and had no memory of the crash.

Coroner Katie Sutherland said the cause of the hypoglycaemic (blood sugar) event was unknown.

She recorded a narrative conclusion.

Pathologist Dr Mark Lord said Mr Jones would have died instantly from multiple injuries after a head-on smash.
