A CRASH in Gwynedd led to a man needing hospital treatment this evening.

North Wales Police say the accident took place near Bethesda.

Motorists were told to avoid the area where possible with officers dealing with the incident.

The Welsh Ambulance Service were also in attendance and the man was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital in bangor following the crash.

A statement from North Wales Police at the time of the incident read: "ROAD CLOSED: There has been an accident on the A5 between the A55 and Bethesda. The road is currently closed between the Tregarth and Bryn Bella turnings. Please find an alternative route."

The road re-opened at around 8pm, having been shut for a couple of hours.
