Gwynedd Council has paid tribute to former councillor Penri Jones who passed away over the weekend.
He was one of the first members of Gwynedd Council and served the Llanbedrog area until 2012.
He was the education portfolio holder on the Council Board for many years where he played a key role in developing and implementing the county's Welsh language policy.
Councillor Simon Glyn, the current Chairman of Gwynedd Council, said: "We heard with sadness the death of Penri Jones.
“Penri worked tirelessly for his area and for Wales for many years and will be well remembered as a member of Gwynedd Council and in particular his key work in developing the County's language policy.
“Today, our thoughts are with his family in their loss.”
