Ynys Môn Conservatives secured a by-election victory on Anglesey.

In contrast to the Conservative's by-election defeat in North Shropshire Keith Fitton was elected to Llanbadrig Community Council in a by-election in Cemaes.

This is the second win for the Conservatives on Ynys Môn since 2008 – following the election of Virginia Crosbie MP in 2019 - and is seen as a significant milestone in the party’s resurgence on the island.

New Councillor Keith Fitton said: “I would like to thank the Ynys Môn Conservatives team for their support, the Council’s Democratic Services team who worked into the night to run the election and, of course, all those who came out and voted.

“I am delighted to have secured this win and look forward to serving my community to the best of my ability however they voted.”

Keith is well-known in the Llanbadrig community for his fundraising events including the annual Santa by Sea which this year raised money to buy a paediatric oximeter for the local GP surgery.

Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie said: “Keith’s win is great news for the local Conservatives and I hope to see more successes in the County Council elections next May.

“My win in the General Election, Keith’s victory and the increased majority we achieved in the Senedd election earlier this year, all underline the fact that the people of Anglesey are looking for change.

"They are looking to us to deliver that change and we will not let them down.”

Bethan Davies, Deputy Chair Political for Ynys Môn Conservatives said: “Congratulations to Keith on this success.

"We look forward to having more Conservative candidates on ballot papers across Anglesey next May and giving local people the opportunity to vote for positive change here on the island.
