MORE than 3,000 new cases of covid have been confirmed as Wales prepares for new tougher measures after Christmas.
In the latest Public Health Wales update on Friday, there were 3,129 new cases of the virus reported in Wales.
Sadly, three people died after a positive test in the last 24 hour period.
Of the new cases, 735 were in the North Wales counties covered by the Betsi Cadwalader University Health Board.
Flintshire and Wrexham have reported the highest numbers of new cases.
The new cases in North Wales can be broken down to:
- Flintshire 165
- Wrexham 141
- Gwynedd 117
- Denbighshire 115
- Anglesey 105
- Conwy 92
The seven-day rolling infection rate for Wales is now 501.3 per 100,000 population.
In North Wales, only Conwy has a rate below the national average.
Anglesey, Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Gwynedd have the highest rates in Wales.
