YNYS Môn MP Virginia Crosbie has unveiled the winner of her annual Christmas card competition.

This year, classes four and five of Ysgol Llanfairpwll have won, with their one-metre-high design of a Christmas tree, with the students all contributing a bauble.

The image has been reduced in size and will feature on the front of the card to be sent to public figures like the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

Runner-up designs on the back are by Jac Griffiths, aged nine, of Ysgol Gynradd Bodedern, and Trystan Burton, also nine, of Ysgol y Tywyn.

The winner and runners-up received book tokens as their prize.

Mrs Crosbie showed an impressed Mr Johnson her card at Downing Street this week, where she taught him how to say ‘Nadolig Llawen’.

She said: “Many congratulations to the winners for their brilliant card. It was certainly larger than usual, but full of great design and a tremendous amount of thought.

“Congratulations, too, to the runners-up for their great designs. I was really impressed with the standard of entries this year and it was difficult to pick a winner.”

Mrs Crosbie financed the cards using sponsorship from 13 companies in the region, so there was no cost to the taxpayer.

She added: “I would really like to thank all those businesses who offered to put money in to sponsor the competition.

“Their logos will adorn the cards as they make their way to sit on mantelpieces across the country. It shows what a generous and broad range of businesses we have here on the island.”

Mrs Crosbie has paid for the book tokens out of her own money.
