THE MP for Ynys Môn, Virginia Crosbie, received her COVID-19 booster vaccine yesterday (November 29) as she urged everyone to ‘grab a jab’ when they are offered one.

Mrs Crosbie had the Moderna vaccine near Westminster to top up her protection from COVID-19.

She said it was vitally important everyone gets the jab when asked.

Fears over the new Omicron COVID-19 strain have led to tightened restrictions in Wales and across the UK while experts try and discover if it is more transmissible or if it could evade the vaccines.

Mrs Crosbie said: “Scientific opinion is firmly of the view that the vaccines we have will not be rendered ineffective by this mutation, so getting a COVID booster is the single best thing anyone can do to help ensure we stay on top of this virus.

“I think the nations have acted decisively to either tighten mask-wearing or foreign travel rules to buy us time while the experts find out more.

“I remain positive about the situation, especially if we all continue to have the booster. The situation is much improved from this time last year.

“We have effective vaccines, better treatment and hospitalisation and death rates are at a fraction of the figure we endured before the vaccine rollout.

“The Welsh Government announced today that the roll-out of booster jabs in Wales will be accelerated in line with recommendations by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

“Getting one when it is made available to you will keep business on Anglesey open, students in class and Christmas celebrations with family and friends on track.”
