RESIDENTS of Gwynedd and Ynys Môn are being encouraged to have their say on the review of the existing Joint Local Development Plan for the area, which will inform the process of producing a Replacement Plan.

The Joint Local Development Plan, which was adopted in 2017, is the basis for decisions on land use planning in the Gwynedd and Ynys Môn area (excluding the Snowdonia National Park).

As part of the statutory procedure, Development Plans are reviewed four years after adoption so that consideration can be given to the evidence from the annual monitoring reports for the plans and any relevant changes to national and regional policies, strategies and context.

This stage does not include possible amendments or changes to the Joint Plan itself, as this will happen as part of the process of producing a Replacement Plan.

In a joint statement, Councillor Gareth Griffith, Gwynedd Council cabinet member for environment, and Councillor Richard Dew, Isle of Anglesey Council planning portfolio holder, said: “This initial public consultation is the first phase of the Local Development Plan review.

“Its aim is to decide the kind of review that should be held and gather all the relevant information and evidence that will be needed further on when considering proposed changes.

“We would urge all of those who wish to make their views known at this stage to take part in the process and to have their say.”

The Draft Review Report is subject to a public consultation, and those wishing to take part should submit their responses by December 20.

The Draft Review Report is available on the websites of both councils where members of the public can submit their responses: www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/replacementldp and www.anglesey.gov.uk/replacementldp.

Members of the public can also return copies of the submission form (by December 20) via email to: planningpolicy@gwynedd.llyw.cymru, or by post to: Joint Planning Policy Service, Council offices, Shirehall Street, Caernarfon, LL55 1SH.
