A CAERNARFON bakery is to celebrate its first anniversary of opening by offering customers a tasty discount.

The Bakehouse, on Palace Street, Caernarfon, will reach a full year of trading on Wednesday, December 1, and will mark the occasion by offering a 20 per cent on its cakes that day.

Owner Beth Jantosz said the ‘Birthday Bash’ will celebrate a successful first year of trading which, despite the tribulations of the COVID-19 pandemic, did not see her have to close The Bakehouse at all.

Beth said: “It’s been an experience. Obviously, opening during the pandemic, it was quite worrying to begin with. We got through January, which everyone kept reassuring me was a quiet month anyway, and then we just got busier and busier.

“We had a great summer, and we’re still finding our feet just a little bit because obviously, in the lead-up to December 1, we don’t know what it was like (this time) last year.

“We didn’t have to close whatsoever because we’re a takeaway service, so we were one of the only places in Caernarfon that was open at the time, which was good because we still managed to get a good few customers.

“It was really important for us because I had no option to close. Because we were newly opened, we couldn’t register for furlough or anything like that, so it was important for us to trade so we could make the money.

“What we were hoping to try and do is give 20 per cent off the cakes as a thank you to the locals for supporting us through the pandemic.”
