Over the last couple of years the Flintshire town of Mold has seen an influx in new businesses and existing business expansions, with the latest count being 41 businesses opening in the town since January 2020 and a further 11 businesses expanding.

One of the town’s business success stories is This Digital, on the High Street.

Founded by friends Harry Phillips and Matt Hughes, This Digital opened in September 2019, working from a single office on the Mold Industrial Estate.

Due to their determination and commitment to growing local businesses, This Digital has now expanded its workforce and recently moved into larger premises on the High Street.

Harry said: “Having grown up in Mold, the town has naturally played a big part in both our lives.

"From meeting in Ysgol Bryn Coch to setting up our first office on the Bromfield Industrial Estate, a lot of milestones have been tied to Mold.

"When we first set up This Digital, we knew there was a gap in the market for a digital agency, with a lot of our competitors setting up shop across the border in Chester and bigger cities like Liverpool and Manchester.

"Equally, we knew North Wales had a wealth of ambitious businesses who we could help grow, and who would see the benefit of working with a local agency.

"We’re now fortunate enough to work with a number of incredible businesses in Mold, Flintshire and throughout the UK.

"This has been supported by our recent move to our new office on Mold High Street, which has opened up a number of opportunities to engage with local businesses and feel like part of the community.

Matt added: “Alongside our new office, we’re thrilled to have recently hired our first employees, both from the local area.

"Building a team of local talent has been a goal of ours since starting the business, and it is incredibly rewarding to be able to provide industry leading jobs in the digital sector to local people.

"With ties to local schools and colleges, we’re excited to offer jobs to more local people to help us offer our services to even more businesses.”

Mayor of Mold, Cllr Sarah Taylor, said: “I was delighted to visit the This Digital team at their new office.

"The first thing that hits you when you enter their offices is a fantastic, colourful and fun mural that is across the whole of the main corridor wall.

"When the team renovated their new office space they were left with a huge blank canvas, so to add some colour to the office and inject a bit of their personalities they commission North Wales artist Jasmine Thomas to create the incredible mural, it really is a talking point.”

Joanna Douglass, business and regeneration officer at Mold Town Council said: "Following my initial visit to This Digital in September 2019 when they started their business, their commitment was to grow local businesses through digital marketing.

"It was fantastic to visit them again, having grown themselves and moved into their new larger premises in the town centre and taken on new staff, it is a testament to their company ethos’.
