ISLE of Anglesey County Council have announced the plans for this weekend’s Menai Bridge Fair Day.

The traditional street fair will take place this year on Saturday, October 23, with people invited to come along to experience the rides, stalls and atmosphere of the fair.

Given the fair is a street event, there will inevitably be some disruption in the town, so the council has aimed to minimise the disruption with the arrangements made.

A road closure order covering Menai Bridge’s Telford Road, Bridge Street, Wood Street and Water Street will operate from 2pm on Friday, October 22 until 7am on Sunday, October 24, with a signposted diversion to be in place.

Temporary bus stops will also operate on Mona Road on Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23.

Parking will be available at Bulkeley and Coed Cyrnol car parks as usual, while the Wood Street and Llys Menai car parks will be occupied by the fair from midnight on Friday to 7am on Sunday.

No loading or unloading restrictions will be in place on Dale Street, High Street and sections of Cadnant Road for the duration of the road closure order.

People have been told not to come to the fair if they develop COVID-19 symptoms, or if they or any members of their household or support bubble have been contacted via the NHS Test and Trace app and told to self-isolate.

This remains the law regardless of vaccination status.

Those who attend the fair are asked to comply with the requests of the friendly fair team and, where possible, to keep their distance from others when moving through the site.

Wear a suitable face covering, unless medically exempt, is also recommended, as is washing hands regularly using the hand sanitiser provided.
