Half term fun at Wrexham Library

Wrexham Library will be running activities for children during half term. Activities include free craft sessions for children aged six years+. These sessions are free but you must book a place for your children before the event. Places are limited to 12 children per session and an adult must stay with them during the session. If you're not able to attend these sessions the library will also have tables in the children's library with spooky activity sheets which children can help themselves to. There will also be a ghost treasure hunt to complete - if you're brave enough! For more details please call the library on 01978 292090 or follow our social media pages.

Author of the Month

Hannah-Jane by Lleucu Roberts.

Hannah-Jane by Lleucu Roberts.

Originally from Ceredigion, Lleucu Roberts now lives in Rhostryfan, Caernarfon. She attended Ysgol Rhydypennau in Bow Street, and Ysgol Penweddig in Aberystwyth, where she was inspired to write by her Welsh teachers. She graduated in Welsh from Aberystwyth University and gained a PhD in the field of medieval poetry under her tutor, the late Bobi Jones. She was an editor in Y Lolfa for a period, and worked as a freelance novelist and scriptwriter for the radio and television. She has won the Tir na nOg prize on several occasions and she has won the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize and the Prose Medal at the 2014 National Eisteddfod in Carmarthenshire, the first person to win both prose prizes in the same year. She has also won the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize at this year's AmGen Eisteddfod, Cardiff, for her novel Hannah-Jane. She now makes a living from translating, primarily for Testun Cyf. Her work includes seven novels and two volumes of short stories for adults and eight novels for children and young people. She and her husband, Arwel 'Pod' Roberts, have four children and a grand-daughter. She counts herself extremely fortunate to have spent months in a bubble with her grand-daughter, who was born last October.

Story time at Wrexham Library

Have fun sharing rhymes and stories with your baby or toddler. Sharing books and coming to story-rhyme times are fun and a great way to help under fives develop their listening, thinking and talking skills. Weekly story time sessions will start again at Wrexham Library on Fridays from 10am-10.30am, and they are free of charge so why not come along? The first session will take place on Friday, October 22.

Black History Month

This October we celebrate Black History Month, dedicated to the stories and storytellers from African and Caribbean communities in the UK, Ireland and across the world. Ar Lwybr Dial gan Alun Davies

Ar Lwybr Dial by Alun Davies

Ar Lwybr Dial by Alun Davies

Lladradau cyffredin ym mhentref lan y môr Borth sy'n dod â Taliesin MacLeavy a'i bartner Siwan Mathews ynghyd. Ond wrth ymchwilio, maen nhw'n dod ar draws golygfa ofnadwy: hen gwpwl yn gelain, wedi eu gosod o gwmpas y bwrdd ar gyfer eu swper olaf. Sut mae dal yr un sy'n gyfrifol cyn iddo daro eto? Wrth i nifer y cyrff gynyddu, a fydd Taliesin yn gallu edrych yn ddwfn i'w enaid amherffaith ei hun er mwyn dal y llofrudd? Nofel dditectif gyfoes, wedi ei lleoli yn Aberystwyth, yn arddull storïau Scandi noir. Mae Alun Davies, yr awdur yn berchennog busnes ac yn ddatblygwr meddalwedd o Aberystwyth sydd bellach yn byw yng Nghaerdydd. Wedi teithio ar hyd Gogledd a De America, mae'n awyddus i weld mwy o'r byd. Mae'n hoffi rhedeg a beicio ac wedi cyflawni sawl triatholon. Cerys
