Adele returned with new music for the first time in six years overnight with her soul-bearing comeback single Easy On Me.

The 33-year-old global megastar released the first single on her new Album, 30, which will cover what she has described as the most turbulent period in her life.

It saw her split from charity boss husband Simon Konecki in 2019 and spark a new romance with US sports agent Rich Paul.

Adele said 30, the album she will release in November, was her attempt at explaining her divorce to eight-year-old son Angelo.

Easy On Me sees the singer apparently directly addressing her ex-husband and son while explaining why she left her marriage.

The stirring video, shot in black-and-white and filmed in Canada last month, features Adele taking a last look around an empty house before picking up her suitcase, putting on sunglasses and leaving.

She climbs into her car and drives off, passing a “sold” sign outside what was her family home.

Doncaster Council take exception to new Adele music video

The video shows papers flying out of her car as she drives onto pastures new as Adele sings: “Go easy on me”.

She will be asking the same of Doncaster Council who have jokingly taken exception to the new music video.

They tweeted: “Unfortunately, as Adele’s video was clearly filmed within the confines of Doncaster metropolitan borough, she will be issued with a fixed penalty notice for littering immediately.

“Despite repeated requests, we will not be going easy on her.”

They added: “We’re willing to strike a deal with Adele.

“If we can use this image on our anti-flytipping signs, then consider the matter closed.”

Adele fans react to Doncaster Council tweet

Thankfully, Adele fans took the joke well with one fans tweeting: “Whoever handles this account deserves a pay rise!”

Another agreed: “Someone in the comms team deserves a pay rise.”

“Hard but fair,” joked a third.

Although some didn't get the joke with one person tweeting: "American licence plates?"

To which Doncaster Council replied: Oh yeah, you're right. Maybe it WASN'T filmed here."

Her previous albums – 19, 21 and 25 – have all been global hits. 21 and 25 both won album of the year at the Grammys.

30’s release will be met with sky-high expectations and with Easy On Me she is well on track to meet them.
