Reviewing the hotel, The Sunday Times’ Pamela Goodman said the area was surrounded by exhilarating scenery and that the hotel was the perfect base for an “adventure-focused” holiday.

And it is no surprise that adventure was top of the agenda.

Plas Weunydd was built in May at the old Llechwedd mine to compliment the adventure offerings of Zip World.

It isn’t only The Sunday Times who were taken by a stay at Plas Weunydd.

The hotel has a four star rating on TripAdvisor, with one reviewer describing it as a “hidden gem”.

They added: “I don't usually write reviews, but having stayed here for 12 nights in September this hotel definitely warrants the time and effort.

“The hotel itself is spotless, the rooms spacious, comfortable and quiet.

“Would certainly recommend this hotel and look forward to having the opportunity to stay here again.”
