NORTH Wales Fire and Rescue has launched a recruitment campaign looking for on-call firefighters to join the service.

Working as an on-call firefighter means being involved in a wide range of activities in your local area, from responding to emergency calls to carrying out work in local communities to support their needs or providing prevention advice to help keep them safe.

The service especially needs people in rural areas, but wherever you are; it’s the same first-class training, development opportunities, and chance to protect the people near where you live and work.

In return, the service can offer flexible work to fit around study, work and family commitments.

Paul Jenkinson, senior operations manager, said: “On-call firefighters are a vital part of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

“The role is demanding, unpredictable, exciting and rewarding, coupled with the satisfaction and respect that comes with providing a crucial service to your local community.

“We would be delighted to hear from applicants who can give their time to the service and who wish to help protect their local community and who meet the eligibility criteria.

“We’re preparing to step up our efforts to recruit on-call firefighters in a number of areas to help protect communities across the region – and these include our fire stations located at Aberdyfi, Abersoch, Amlwch, Bala, Beaumaris, Benllech, Betws y Coed, Cerrigydrudion, Corwen, Harlech, Llangefni, Llanrwst, Menai Bridge, Porthmadog, Rhyl, St Asaph and Tywyn.

“We are also taking registrations from those interested in joining any of our on-call stations across the region.

“We will be holding three open events in the coming weeks, with more to be scheduled in the near future.

“Whatever fire station you’re thinking of applying for, come along to one of the open events to ask questions about the role, find out more about the equipment you’d use and the environment in which you’d work.”

Open events will take place from 10am-7pm at the following locations:

• Porthmadog Fire Station: Wednesday, October 27

• Llangefni Fire Station: Monday, November 8

• Tywyn Fire Station: Thursday, November 25

If you are hoping to attend any of them, please e-mail: hrdesk@nwales-fireservice.org.uk.
