SIGNING up for your COVID pass in Wales is a very simple process.

News was announced today, September 17, that Wales will introduce vaccine passes for ‘high risk’ venues like nightclubs and for events where people will gather on mass like concerts.

First Minister Mark Drakeford announced that these passes will become mandatory at venues and events in Wales weeks from now from Monday, October 11.

The pass differs from the vaccine passport idea as people who cannot – or choose not to – be vaccinated can opt to show they are clear of COVID with a lateral flow test up to two days prior to entering a venue/event.

However, he encouraged people in Wales to get set up with their passes – which is a really easy procedure.

The vaccine pass process in Wales is as simple as downloading the NHS COVID Pass – as this can be used to show and share a person’s eligibility to enter ‘high risk’ areas.

Over the coming days and weeks, it is expected that further information and guidance will be published by the government, in a bid to make the rollout of this process as easy as possible.

According to the Welsh Government website, you can access the NHS COVID Pass via the NHS website (nhs.uk).

This will allow you to produce a COVID pass using a smart phone, a computer or laptop.

To access the service, you’ll need to register for an NHS login.

You will need to upload a photo of your ID (passport, full UK driving licence, full European driving licence).

Your NHS COVID Pass includes a barcode.

The expiry date refers to the barcode and will update automatically.
