A NEW study from fitness education providers, Origym, found that Bangor tops the list of the UK’s unhealthiest cities.

The report analyses how accessible fitness facilities, sports clubs and healthy eating options are for city residents across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

To rank the UK’s healthiest and unhealthiest cities, Origym gave each city a ranking based on their number of gyms, swimming pools, tennis clubs, athletics clubs, and cycling clubs.

The analysis also took into account the number of people searching for ‘home workouts’ and the number of restaurants given a ‘healthy eating’ rating on TripAdvisor.

Bangor tops the list as the least fit city in the UK; with just 20 gyms, two swimming pools, one tennis court and two healthy eating restaurants, it was given an overall fitness score of merely 25 points.

Bangor was closely followed by Newry and Hereford in second and third place, with 40 and 71 points respectively.
