A RECENT project has been completed in an Anglesey village working with young people to create a beautiful piece of artwork.

The piece, found in Penysarn, was funded by Crimebeat and initiated by North Wales Police community support officer Nerys Williams alongside Carol Whitaker and Gordon Hayes from Penysarn Youth Club.

It took about a month to complete, and was finished in August 2021.

Young people from the area were involved, allowing them to engage in a safe environment as the youth club had been closed since the first lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The young people thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this project to brighten up the park in Pensyarn. Artist Lucie Jones designed the piece and ensured the design was relevant to the village and its history.

Dave Evans, Crimebeat co-ordinator, said: “This has been a fantastic grassroots community project that has really engaged with local young people and the wider community.

“On behalf of the High Sheriff and Crimebeat, I would like to thank all the young people who took part, together with artist Lucie Jones and Nerys Williams, who gave Crimebeat the opportunity to support the project with a small grant.”
