A RUNNER fell from the cliffs close to Copper Mine Creek on the Isle of Anglesey on Saturday (September 11).

Multiple crews attended the scene after reports that a woman had fallen at 10.45am on Saturday, with the casualty airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital after being stabilised by an Air Ambulance doctor.

A post on Cemaes Bay Coastguard Search and Rescue’s Facebook page on Sunday morning read: “HM Coastguard Cemeas Bay Team were tasked to assist Holyhead and Moelfre Coastguard Rescue Teams along with Trearddur Bay RNLI lifeboats, the Air Ambulance & a Coastguard Rescue helicopter from Ireland, to assist a runner who had fallen a significant distance from the cliffs close to Copper Mine Creek.

“The RNLI crews attended to the casualty from the sea, with the Coastguard Rescue Teams descending the cliff face with the Air Ambulance Doctor in a dual rope descent.

“Once the Air Ambulance Doctor had stabilised the casualty, the Irish Coastguard Helicopter from Ireland sent down a winch man with a stretcher to recover the casualty to the cliff top for further treatment prior to being flown to Stoke Hospital for treatment.

“Once the casualty was airborne, the Coastguard Rescue teams recovered the RNLI crew and the first informant via an assisted rope cliff ascent.

“Fantastic work by all agencies involved; we wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
