HUNDREDS of new COVID cases have been recorded in North Wales according to recent figures, public health officials report.

Data released by Public Health Wales on September 7 shows that there had been a total of 2,504 new cases across Wales, of which 487 were in the North.

They can be broken down as such:

• Anglesey – 33 (47.1 per 100,000 population)

• Conwy – 67 (57.2 per 100,000 population)

• Denbighshire – 91 (95.1 per 100,000 population)

• Flintshire – 119 (76.2 per 100,000 population)

• Gwynedd – 101 (81.1 per 100,000 population)

• Wrexham – 76 (55.9 per 100,000 population)

BCUHB stats:

• Total confirmed COVID-19 cases from North Wales as of September 7 – 71,840.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) – the largest health board in Wales – has reported 990 people have sadly died since the start of the pandemic, according to PHW data.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics, which are considered a stronger indicator of the overall impact of the virus, and which are based on all deaths where COVID is mentioned on the death certificate, stand at 1,441 for the health board area.

BCUHB has also reported the most identified cases of the Delta variant, compared to other health boards.

Across Wales, figures for Delta infections stand at 18,548 since the records began. Of this number, 6,579 cases are from the North Wales region.

The total cases per county can be broken down as such as of August 31:

• Anglesey – 300

• Conwy – 1,239

• Denbighshire – 1,405

• Flintshire – 1,468

• Gwynedd – 682

• Wrexham – 1,485

The national picture:

Across Wales, another 2,504 COVID cases were confirmed in the latest figures, meaning that 296,310 people are now known to have contracted the coronavirus since the pandemic began.

There were three more deaths reported on Monday, with the figure at 5,702 across Wales since the start of the pandemic.
